I have a few 'stories' myself, both from family, friends and personal
experiance.
I will start with a story my mother told me which happened to her when she was in her early twenties. She was married to her first husband and they
rented a small apartment just outside the city centre. It was in a block
of around 10 other apartments.
At the time my mother was much more open minded about ghosts and all
things paranormal. One evening her and her first husband, Mick, were
entertaining guests. They decided to perform a Ouija board. There was some
movement of the glass, and my mum recalls how it told them of a spirit of
a construction worker who had been murdered and buried in the foundations
of a motorway bridge. They ended the evening, the guests went home and
they disposed of the Ouija board material.
The next morning my mum got up, went into the living room to find the
letters from the Ouija board scattered all over the floor (they had been
pushed down into the waste bin). Two letters had been singled out and sat
away from the rest, they were the two initials of the construction worker
who had contacted them the previous evening. My mum thought it was Mick
trying to scare her, but he denied doing it. My mums wedding ring also
went missing, for around a week. It then reappeared on the mantle piece
above the fire, where my mum had left it when taking it off to do house
work. The ring was not in good condition either, it had been squashed
flat, but with no apparent damage to the stone, its setting or the band
itself.
Other strange occurrences plagued them until they moved. Lights would turn
themselves on and off in the bathroom. The sound of a man urinating in the
toilet, followed by the toilet being flushed. My mum would investigate,
but never find anyone. A strange smell of cigarette smoke in the lounge,
even though no one ever smoked in the lounge (this was a time in the early
seventies when the living room was kept for entertaining guests and so was
always kept for best) not long after my mum and her first husband
separated and they moved out of the apartment.
My next story involves my ex brother in law. He moved out of my Mother in
law's house and into a rented house with his friend. It was a 2 bedroom
semi detached house which for a while had been used as rented
accommodation, seeing a fair few families through its doors. They lived
there for a few weeks,my brother in law and his friend, enjoying the
freedom it gave them both as young single men. It was about the time my
Brother in laws friend got himself a lady friend and she started stopping
over that the trouble started.
My Brother in law (Ex) who we will call Matt, would be in his room, and he
would hear a tap blasting out water, either in the kitchen or bathroom.
Thinking his housemate, Ben, had left it on he would turn it off. This
continued happening for a while, before Matt felt the need to tackle the
issue with Ben. When he told Ben, Ben confessed to having similar
experiences, and thinking Matt was responsible!
Things also started going missing, only to re appear days later in very
obvious places. The most disturbing phenomena was what started next. Matt
would lay in bed at night, and he would hear, coming from the upstairs
landing, the sound of child's laughter. Very clear and unmistakably coming
from just outside his bedroom door. To start with he ignored it, but when
it went on for over a week, he mentioned it to Ben, but he hadn't heard
anything. The final straw came one night when once again Matt was laying
in bad, trying to sleep, when he heard a thunderous noise from on the
landing. He said it sounded like a child running up and down the stairs,
this was then accompanied by the same laughter as he had heard previously.
This scared him and he was just about the get out of bed to turn the light
on, when the bedroom door flew open. Matt sat in bed, dumb struck with
fear as he heard the laughter 'run' into the room. 'Something', though he
couldn't see it, then ran over his bed. He saw the bed sheets depress as
invisible feet ran across his bed, he could also feel the extra weight
push his mattress down. Whatever it was ran across his bed, still
laughing, and into the opposite corner of his room. Then all was quiet.
Needless to say, they didn't stay in the property for very much longer.
I have never been privy to such extraordinary experiences myself, mush to
my disappointment, but i once saw the ghost, or i am sure it was the
ghost, of an old family pet. Our old dog use to spend much of its time in
the garage, and long after she died i swear to seeing her out of the
corner of my eye, darting round the corner of the garage wall and into the
passageway that separated the garage from our house.
