I found this ghost stories sight about a month ago. I love hearing about these stories. I don't know if I really believe these stories- I'm more of a "don't believe it until I see it" kind of person. I've been interested in ghosts and poltergeists since I was young. I'd do research and write school papers about this paranormal stuff. It fascinates me and scares me even though I don't really believe it.
Now I'm going on to my second year of college. And at every college there are rumors of hauntings. I'll just share a few of the stories I've heard. I don't really know all the details. I'm sure these stories were just made up to scare the freshmen and transfer students.
First I'll start with the all female dorm. It's a pretty spooky building first of all and when you walk into the building it's very quiet and dark. It does have two good qualities though- large rooms and a beautiful lounge. I guess just about every year it gets struck by lightning. When I came to visit the school my senior year of high school, the roof had a big tarp over it and repairs were being done because of a recent lightning strike. It is a very old and tall building- almost like a mansion.
Well, the first story that I heard about was about a girl who hung herself in the old elevator shaft. I don't know all the details, but the shaft was boarded up and the girl now haunts the third floor. Supposedly, there have been sightings and I guess just this past year one of my fellow freshman girls experienced a flipping of channels while watching the TV in the basement. And there is a boys bathroom in the basement that none of the boys use because of strange going ons in the bathroom when they are using it. Also one of the girls I kind of hung around with the beginning of the year had a couple weird experiences in her first floor room. Around Halloween, her pumpkin fell off of her windowsill and the sink in her room made weird clanking noises in the pipes. I told her that the windowsill probably wasn't big enough for her large pumpkin and all old sink pipes make weird noises.
I haven't seen anything in this dormatory. I've only set foot in it once or twice and noticed how incredibly spooky it is. I will have the wonderful opportunity to live there this year. Maybe I'll play detective.
The next story is from the dorm I lived in my freshman year. I don't remember exactly which floor- second or third- that is supposedly haunted. All I know is that a group of kids went to a Greatful Dead concert and on their way back to the dorm, they were in an accident and no survivors were accounted for. Later, maybe a year or two or more, a girl was awaken in the wee hours of the night. She saw a group of kids in her room- not recognizing any of them and thinking they were her roommate's friends- told them to leave because she was trying to sleep. I guess they just vanished when she spoke. The next morning she asked her roommate about it and the roommate had no idea what she was talking about.
One point to add. I guess a couple weeks or months after the accident, a room on the third floor started on fire. The person who lived in the room was supposedly a friend of the victims. But don't think it was some kind of paranormal activity. This person left a candle burning on top of his computer. Or didn't he.
And a third floor freshman girl insisted that her room was haunted this past year. Was she just looking for attention or was it too many shrooms? Could my first floor room have been haunted? There were big water pipes in my room that clanked and clanked so much I could hardly ever get to sleep. I asked people in other rooms with pipes if clanking was loud. They said they had no problems. Maybe my ears are just very sensitive.
Well, that's all I have for now. If I experience anything this next year in the female dorm, I'll write back. If you have any questions or comments feel free to contact me at: firstname.lastname@example.org
